Les was extremely proud of being in the Merchant Navy, and had many fond memories of being at sea. He was often at Sydney in his voyages, and he loved being in Australia.
Many a story was told by Les, recalling the journeys through the Suez Canal and the Panama Canal; he enjoyed his time whilst in the Merchant Navy
